Virus komputer berpindah dari satu komputer ke komputer lain denfgan cara menumpang pada program. Salah cara efektif yang dipaki oleh virus adalah dengan menumpang pada email.
Email ini intinya bisa menyebar keratusan atau bahkan ribuan alamat email lain.
Email yang bervirusss biasanya menyertakan sebuah file attchment tersebut yang akan menularkan virus ke komputer lokal apabila si penerima email membuka file attchment tersebut. Cara pencegahan penularan virus via file attchment masih tergolong mudah yakni dengan cara memblokir file yang berpotensi mengandung virus.
Selain melalui file attchment teknik penyebaran virus via email bisa juga memanfaatkan kemampuan pengiriman email dalam format html. Format html dalam pengiriman email memungkinkan seseorang mengirimkan gambar dan suara atau juga skrip lainnya. Kemampuan inilah yang sering dimanfaatkan untuk menyisipkan skrip-skrip jahatyang bisa berbahaya bagi komputer kita.
Untuk menangulangi tekhnik ini adalah dengan cara mengkonversi format html email ke palin kita.
Berikut caranya :
1. [start][All Programs]>[Outlook Express]
2. Klik menu [Tools]>[Option]
3.Klik tab [Read]
4. Cek pada Checkbox [Read all messages in plain text]
5. Klik [OK]
Saat ini anda tidak akan menerima lagi email dalam format html. Semua pesan akan dikonversi secara otomatis menjadi teks murni (plain text)
